Yash was born on 08th January 1986 to Mr.Arun Kumar and Mrs. Pushpa in the city of Hassan, Karnataka. He has a younger sister named Nandini. His childhood days were spent in Mysore where he did his schooling and PU in Mahajana Education Society. He gave due importance to academics and excelled at extracurricular activities.
He was always determined to become a great actor since childhood days. Soon after his studies, he joined the BeNaKa drama troupe which was formed by noted dramatist B. V. Karanth. His initial years in Bangalore proved to be a struggle and he started his acting career with the serial Uttaraayana(Udaya TV). Nanda Gokula followed directed by Ashok Kashyap, which aired on ETV Kannada. He went on to appear in several other teleserials such as ‘Shiva’, ‘Malebillu’ and ‘Preeti Illada Mele’. He had a small role in a 2007 film directed by Priya Hassan, Jambhada Hudugi. He then acted in Moggina Manasu directed by Shashank in 2008, where he appeared as lead alongside his ‘Nanda Gokula’ co-star Radhika Pandit. He won hearts, acclaim & a Filmfare award even though his scenes were far & few between.
Yash with his attitude, looks, acting and dancing skills started to impress upon industry folks.
In 2010, He starred in ‘Modalasala’ which became his first commercial solo hit and he was critically acclaimed for his performance in Rajadhani (2011). Kirataka (2011) went on to become a huge hit followed by the highly successful Lucky (2011). Drama (2012) and Googly (2013) provided greater impetus and he went on to impress consistently. ‘Mr. and Mrs. Ramachari’, his 14th venture as a hero, became the biggest blockbuster in the Kannada Film Industry. His latest release ‘Masterpiece’ is churning huge amounts of money in the initial weeks of it’s release and is seen as a worthy box office successor of Mr. and Mrs. Ramachari.
